Natural ventilation

The system can be used in temperate regions of the world. Natural ventilation is suitable for certain types of pig productions and for cattle houses.

System
Space requirements, space to move and access to straw as well as other enrichment materials require different, simpler solutions in terms of house layout and ventilation system. Under such production conditions, controlling the house climate can often be less restrictive making it a good idea to use natural ventilation. The producer gets a simple, functional system using a minimum of energy. The light conditions are good, ensuring a comfortable environment for animals and people alike.

Air is taken in through openings in the outer wall of the house and air is let out through the ridge of the roof. The thermal conditions of the air create a moderate, natural negative pressure through level differentiation between air intake and air outlet.

SKOV’s natural ventilation ensures:

  • A simple, functional system
  • Low initial costs
  • Minimum energy consumption
  • Fresh air in the house all year
  • Good light conditions

Air intake
Air is taken in through openings in the outer wall of the house. The openings can be regulated by curtains and mounted with windows if the house is affected strongly by winds. In order to obtain improved minimum ventilation, the openings can be supplemented with several DA 1211B wall inlets. If ventilation requirements are low, the openings are closed with curtains and air taken in through wall inlets.

Air outlet
Air is let out through fixed or adjustable ridge units. When the air outlet is adjustable, the ridge unit has a swivel shutter, which is controlled by a winch motor.

Control
The DOL 234F climate computer ventilates the house based on the outdoor and indoor temperatures. Each side of the house is controlled individually. Sensors located inside the house register the wind effect on one side of the house. The computer will then compensate for this by ventilating primarily from the opposite side of the wind effect. The system can be supplemented with an emergency opening function that ensures the welfare of the animals in case of a power failure.

Further options...
The system can be supplemented with the DOL 2200 alarm system and the FarmOnline® management system.

Heating is a part of the total climate solution in line with cooling and ventilation and a crucial parameter to create an optimum climate.
