Quality Assurance in Broiler Production (KIK) in Denmark
The KIK idea came about back in 2000. The vision was to make a complete setting for quality assurance and documentation in the whole production chain in the Danish broiler production. At the same time, the number of documents to be received, completed, signed and forwarded in connection with the production of broilers would be reduced. The idea of providing the final product with a quality stamp seemed obvious. The vision was that Danish broilers should have the best documentation in the world.

Thirty broiler producers were selected, and the guidelines for the contents of a KIK database were prepared in collaboration between various working groups. Today, in 2009, the entire framework is in place and Danish broiler producers are now reporting to a central database where all the information about their individual batches of broilers is located.
