New software from SKOV safes the broiler producer the trouble of manual reporting

A new program module - KIK - for the management program FarmOnline® makes the Danish broiler producers save time on reporting to the central authorities. The KIK module is nominated as a three-star EUR novelty and will be exhibited at the exhibition Agromek 2009.

In the year 2000, the poultry industry in Denmark decided to develop a Quality Assurance system which at the same time could document the entire production process from egg to broiler. The system is known as KIK (Kvalitetssikring I Kyllingeproduktion) which means Quality in Poultry Production.

- The KIK system is applied in the broiler production by the hatchery, feed supplier, grower and slaughterhouse and serves as a reporting tool, says Poultry Specialist Camilla Fisker, SKOV A/S.

Every day, the broiler producer must report key figures to a central database regarding the environment in the house, mortality and any reasons for killing broilers in the flock. On certain days during the production process, more specific information must be reported such as current weight.

- The KIK module ensures that the broiler producer automatically transfers data from the house computers to the central database. It saves him the manual reporting so he can spend his time on the livestock instead of paper work, continues Camilla Fisker.

FarmOnline® is a management tool which SKOV has developed for use by the ever-larger pig and poultry farms. It is based on very fast technology and the producer can react immediately to an alarm and, if required, change the house computer setup via FarmOnline®.

FarmOnline® KIK module will be presented as a nominated three-start EUR novelty at the Agromek show in Herning from 24 -28 November.
